  1. Hello Aashish,

I have watched your presentation about The Daffodils by W. Wordsworth. I think the idea is great. This type of presentation is good for the lesson of literature. It contains videos with the biography of W. Wordsworth, the lyrical ballads, and other useful information.

Unfortunately, I couldn't open all the links. I could see the link from slide 10, and I loved the links from slide 15.

Will you manage to show and comment on every link in one lesson?

I wish I had had such lessons of literature when I was a student!

    Good luck!
    Ina

  2. Hi Aashish

I was waiting to see an "interactive" ppt and truly yours matched my expectations. Brilliant!

However as Ina pointed out the navigation needs help. The links are all not working well. Could you please check and fix them.

    Best, as always, Cherry.

  3. Hi Aashish sir
This time you came with a great idea. Your power-point presentation is quite interesting.
In the poem Wordsworth keeps on praising the beauty of the nature, especially the daffodils and he is trying to get across one can get by being alone with nature. Nature can make a man fall in love with it when we feel the sense of nature. The beauty of the nature can fill our heart with pleasure. Wordsworth expresses his feels of enjoyment in it. If we really love, we will enjoy the bliss of solitude that nature brings. Nature can make human spirit uplifted.
The impact made by the daffodils in him is so strong and immense, even while he is in the home he contemplates about that. Actually through this poem he is inviting our attention also to the nature...
Even though we had already done this poem in the class, this time it was little more interesting. This novel method helps to impart a better understanding of the subject. I think you should go on with these type of advanced method of teaching.

  4. Sir,
It was a nice experience to read such a simple yet heartwarming poem of Wordsworth. The poem is a typical one of the romantic era, where the poet is a keen and silent observer. It is one of the best nature poems ever written. The poem focuses on the beauty of daffodils thus making nature the highlight throughout. The theme of the poem is the beauty of nature and the way people leave it unattended. 'Daffodils' is the response of the poet to the incident where he happens to come across a belt of flowers(daffodils). He personifies them using words like fluttering, dancing, tossing etc. Also we come across a suitable anastrophe in the line,"What wealth the show to me had brought?".
It revisits the familiar subjects of nature and memory, this time with a particularly simple musical eloquence. It also reflects his concept of the romantic imagination and the poet's belief in the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings, which he acknowledged as the theory of poetry. The poet ,like others, does not think about the daffodils when he passes by. Not until he reaches home and lies on his couch, does he reflect on the effect the daffodils had on him. He wants to convey the fact that nature is often neglected by human beings in this busy world. Also, he refers to himself as a cloud using a simile. This again probably hints at the poet's desire of freedom in the world of hectic activity.

  5. Sir,
Learning a rhyme in such a creative form was a nice idea. The poem is a perfect example of visual imagery. The poet is in an oblivious state, where his thoughts are far away.He walks over the hills and valleys in the state of 'worldly detachment'and abruptly comes across a huge land form covered with golden daffodils beside the land swaying on the actions of the smooth wind.He compares the massive plot of the beautiful flowers to that of an ethereal night when the sky is full of twinkling stars. He caters infinite number of daffodils along the fringes of the bay moving together as the wind blows.Due to the mild breeze, waves are formed in the water of the lake which creates an idyllic scene but the daffodils oscillating in unison out do this spell.Poet is awestruck and full of amiable feelings on watching the beauty of the nature. On watching the picturesque landscape he feels intensively happy.Later, when poet sits aloof at his home, blank, thinking nothing or deep in his thoughts the serene picture of long before seen daffodils comes in his heart with happiness. In short, the poem praises the beauty of nature that breaks the monotonous sadness, loneliness and worries of life and takes him to a world full of happiness and solitude.Hence, the title 'The Daffodils' has,in a single phrase, summed an entire literary philosophy.

  6. Thank you sir for this change in classroom teaching.
William Wordsworth was the poet of nature.Once he was enjoying the beauty of nature and he was just moving around. When he came near the lake and he found a host of golden daffodils flowers. They stretched here and there.
The daffodils flowers were dancing with the wind. The never ending line of daffodils and the beautiful golden colour appeared really beautiful. The water of the lake has its also movement but when he looks the movement of daffodils flowers, he can not take off his eyes from the flowers.
To the average readers he excels, and even the trained and thoughtful minds of literature, at their first reading, get enamored. This is because of his power to install justified words and phrases. Moreover, both in rhyming verse and blank-verse, his art is next to perfection.
But a true poet is a seer. Here Wordsworth leaves a self-betrayal. For the poet in reality it experienced the estate of oneness with the ultimate reality or divinity.
His shorter poem like The Daffodils appear packed with relieving ideas.

  7. Sir,
The presentation is very good and informative. The poem is a perfect example of visual imagery.Daffodils was written by William Wordsworth in 1804. It is written in six-line stanzas with an ababcc rhyme scheme. The four six line stanza of the poem follow a quatrain couplet rhyming scheme that is ABABCC and the metre is iambic tetrameter.

It is one of the best poems of William Wordsworth. The plot is very simple showing poet's wandering and discovering of the daffodil field by the river and whenever the poet is bored or sad the memory of which pleases him. The characterization of the plot is really simple but the poem’s main brilliance lies in the reverse personification of its early stanzas. The speaker is metaphorically compared to a natural object, a cloud and the daffodils are continually personified as human beings, dancing and “tossing their heads” in “a crowd, a host.” This technique implies an inherent unity between man and nature, making it one of Wordsworth’s most basic and effective methods for instilling in the reader the feeling the poet so often describes himself as experiencing.

I think The Daffodils is a typically romantic poem with lots of imageries of nature, with good amount of musical element. The poet talked about the experience of seeing the daffodils in the poem. In whole poem he just talked about the flowers and the joy of watching them. He used visual imagery of wind as the flowers were dancing with the wind. As Wordsworth himself says this poem is like his spontaneous overflow of his emotions of watching the flowers dancing with the wind and he looks very tranquil in the poem. The use of metaphors is also significant in the poem. The comparing of the flowers with stars and comparing himself as clouds. The poem is very musical in nature. he personified daffodils as human beings. He sees them as a crowd of humans tossing their heads. At last, it is very simple and romantic poem.
About the ppt it is very useful for me and it has good amount of information in it. Thank you for this interesting change in class room teaching. I found it very interesting and useful.
    Thanks Sir

According to William Wordsworth poetry is emotional recollection in tranquility. He does the same in his poem 'The Daffodils'.His appreciation for nature and its loveliness in this poem brings out his emotions of love and admiration towards nature. This poem is a portrayal of the lasting impression that instances of immense natural beauty leave on us.If we have the patience and the required imagination we can learn from nature.
The poem begins with the poet describing himself as being a cloud wandering over hills and valleys. The sudden appearance of a bunch of daffodils takes him by surprise. He personifies the daffodils, describing them as dancing and fluttering in the wind. The daffodils appear to have a continuous shine and they twinkle like the stars. The waves in the lake danced too but could not match the beauty of the daffodils. The scene filled the poet's heart with glee.He felt cheerful in the company of the daffodils. After this incident often while lying on his couch the poet imagines the same scene. The daffodils fill his heart with joy and take away his loneliness. The beauty of the place makes his heart dance with joy.

  10. As I read this poem, I can say that it is a common way of making a poem compare with the other literary piece tat trying to criticize a simple way of describing something as the writer describes his surroundings with daffodils, a golden flower..

This poem is strait forward and i can not think any deeper meaning with the daffodils or to any objucts tat the writeer used, daffodils simply describe a beautiful golden flowers. I love this poem...whenever i am happy this poem and the dancing daffodils, i visualize even my heart dances with the daffodils. The poem has a lot of feels that riminds me tat how fast is my life is going...This is a really heart touching poem.

It is just a poem about what a man see and how he describes it why does every thing have to be so deeply analyzed? It is cute, its free and flowing and it made him happy.

  11. Daffodils is a lyric poem by William Wordsworth which focusses on the poet's response to the beauty. We know the speaker is the poet because he mentions it in line 15. He is speaking in third person but we know he is speaking about himself. As we can judge from the first two lines, he is a typical romantic character, a lonely sensitive observer. His loneliness makes him find solace and comfort in nature. The tone of the poem changes constantly throughout the poem.

The speaker has a rich imagination as he creates/has the images of dancing daffodils and dancing waves beside them. Wordsworth clearly describes the act of watching a watching a patch of country daffodils swaying in the country and the lasting impression it has on him. Especially, in the quiet moments of his reverie. The memory of the daffodils pleases him. His wealthier experiences seems to have been in the recollection of tranquility of the 'jocund company' of the daffodils. It expresses the power and influence of nature in their essential unity. The poem has a simplicity that gives it a musical eloquence.

  12. Sir,
Once again William Wordsworth comes up with his familiar subjects of nature and memory. The poem talks about the precious link between man and nature; the serenity nature can bring to any tired and tattered soul.
The short four six line stanzas with exclusively simple language assists in the quick comprehension of the theme and the scene. The composition follows quatrain couplet rhyme scheme:ABABCC. Each line is metered in iambic tetrameter.
The poem is marked by musical eloquence. Various figures of speech give a vivid account of the poet's 'wandering as the lonely cloud', imagery 'beside the lake beneath the trees' for instance.
Alliteration 'beside and beneath', internal rhyming 'fluttering and dancing' add an extra charm to the composition. As elements of nature, these 'personified' flowers are ever glee 'tossing their heads in sprightly dance'. They 'outdid even the sparkling waves'. The beaut of daffodils enthralled the poet and became a treasured experience for him. He didn't even realise what a gift he has received until later. Now. whenever he is feeling kind of blah, he just thinks of the daffodils and his heart is happily dancing. According to Wordsworth. nature is the only companion of solitude.

  13. SIR,
Daffodils is considered to be one of the most famous poems written by WILLIAM WORDSWORTH.In very simple words, the poem clearly depicts his passion for nature. He saw a host of golden daffodils fluttering and dancing in the breeze. He gives quiet a vivid and picturesque description of the daffodils. He says a poet prevent himself being gay and overjoyed in such a jocund company. The daffodils imparted a lasting impression on him.In vacant or in pensive mood they flash upon his inward eye.For him, daffodils is the source of pleasure and solitude. The speaker says that, wandering like a cloud floating above hills and valleys, he encountered a field of daffodils beside a lake. The dancing, fluttering flowers stretched endlessly along the shore, and though the waves of the lake danced beside the flowers, the daffodils outdid the water in glee. The speaker says that a poet could not help but be happy in such a joyful company of flowers. He says that he stared and stared, but did not realize what wealth the scene would bring him.
